The Maine Co-Occurring Policy Exchange (MeCOPE)

Mission

To be a unified statewide voice for the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and systems for the prevention, treatment and recovery support for people with co-occurring disorders

Purpose

MeCOPE is organized and funded as a program of MASAP to provide leadership throughout Maine

for the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and systems for the prevention, treatment and recovery support for people with co-occurring disorders.

 

Membership

Membership is open to not for profit and for profit incorporated agencies meeting the criteria listed below. 

Potential members must have agency executive decision making capability and be:

  • A Member in good standing of MASAP, or 
  • A Licensed professional substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery support agency, or
  • An Agency whose clients are generally impacted by substance use and mental health issues, or
  • An Agency with an interest and/or expertise in co-occurring substance use and mental health 

Membership application documentation requiredOn invitation of the MeCOPE Advisory Committee, the applicant must provide three letters of reference.  Two of the three letters of reference must be from current MASAP members. Letters of reference must address evidence of substantive collaboration as well as statements of agency viability, professionalism, commitment to the field and dedication to the continued improvement of services for people with co-occurring disorders.

 

Current MASAP members in good standing are automatically invited to join MeCOPE. MASAP members accepting the invitation to join MeCOPE within three months of invitation are grandfathered for membership without the need for letters of reference. MASAP members who initially decline or postpone the decision to join MeCOPE will be required to submit three letters of reference, two of which must be from current MASAP members.

 

Meetings are held no less than quarterly at an agreed upon time and place.  Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
