Maine Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse

The Maine Association of Prevention  Programs (MAPP) has changed its name to the Maine Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse (MAPSA) to better reflect its mission and focus.

MAPSA is a grassroots network created in 1999 to provide an advocacy voice for substance abuse prevention. Our primary functions are to advocate at the Maine State Legislature and to educate the general public regarding the need and benefit of substance abuse prevention activities. In its first year, MAPSA succeeded in securing over $725,000 for prevention services through its advocacy effort.

The mission of the Maine Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse (MAPSA) is to build a unified and is statewide voice for substance abuse prevention. With over two hundred individuals and organizations, MAPSA represents service providers and others who have an interest in and commitment to substance abuse prevention.
